President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani arrived Monday to the Turkish capital, Ankara, on an official visit to discuss with Turkish officials the situation in Iraq and to tackle bilateral cooperation in the field of energy.
Massoud Barzani is due to meet Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Ikhlas News agency said.
Talks will focus on the recent crisis in Iraq and the control of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) on some areas in the country. In addition, both sides will discuss cooperation in the field of energy as well as providing aid to Iraqis displaced persons.
Bilateral relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan region have seen developments in the last two years where visits and agreements took place.
