Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
Istanbul - Egypt Today

turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his speech at the summit, said that dividing Palestine is unacceptable at all.

The division that took place in 1947 shows the nature of Israel as an occupation State, he pointed out, adding that the US decision is a reward to Israel to annex illegitimate settlements and territories.

He noted that the US is siding with those who reject peace and adopt violence instead of rewarding those who fight for peace.

The US decision opened the door for more threats to Palestine and regional stability, he said, adding that such decisions hamper peace negotiations and undermine confidence in the United Nations and other international agencies.

The decision on Al Quds violates international law and "largely affects our civilization", he pointed out.

The Turkish president said that "we will not give up our demands for setting up an independent Palestinian State with Al Quds as its capital".

It is time to recognize the State of Palestine, he said, adding that the US decision is provocative.

Washington this way lost its status as a mediator in the peace process, he added.
