Justice Minister Awad Abu Jarad on Wednesday, welcomed Rapporteur for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Josette Durrieu and the accompanying delegation, and discussed with her means to boost bilateral relations and cooperation between the two sides.
The minister said that Jordan supports human rights and freedoms, pointing to King Abdullah’s Sixth Discussion Paper which seeks to emphasize rule of law in the management of the state based on justice, equality and equal opportunity to arrive at the civil state.
Jordan he said, is keen to protect human rights and democracy, noting that the Royal Committee for Developing the Judiciary and Enhancing the Rule of Law prepared legislation to develop the judiciary.
The EU official voiced the council’s keenness to increase cooperation in the judicial field and in enhancing the role of women.
