His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Wednesday, presided over part of the cabinet meeting during a visit to the Prime Ministry.

In remarks during the meeting the King said, “We should firmly work together to overcome challenges facing our country,” adding that crises will only make us stronger.

The King voiced his pride in the level of cooperation among government institutions, stressing the need to learn lessons from previous crises to better grapple with future challenges.

“Our efforts regarding the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram al-Sharif are continuous and do not end with the end of the crises, and all our tools are constantly functioning to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram al-Sharif,” the King added.

During the session, His Majesty said that we are closely monitoring the situation in Jerusalem”, noting that “the challenge is political and not only security.”

With regard to the Israeli embassy incident, the King stressed that Jordan will not relinquish any of the rights of its citizens, saying that Israel is requested to take all legal procedures to achieve justice. “achieving justice is a priority for us and we will closely follow up on procedures”he said.

Commenting on the economic situation, he said, “I know that the economic situation needs time to see results on the ground and many challenges are accumulative, but today, we have a program and a government determined to implement it,” His Majesty said .

With regard to municipal and decentralization elections, His Majesty stressed the need for collective efforts among all concerned institutions to support the Independent Elections Commission to ensure the success of the upcoming elections, adding that these elections will contribute to enhancing citizens’ role in determining development priorities.
