Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, met the President of Arab Union for the Blind (AUB) Dr. Khalid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, who was accompanied by the Chairman of the Friendship Society for the Blind and Chairman of AUB’s Media and Public Relations Committee, Hassan Al-Hulaibi.
The meeting discussed a number of issues related to the blind in Bahrain and the Arab world, including ways to create a sustainable development based on productive individuals who play effective roles in their communities through integrating peoples with disabilities in the development process.
The minister highlighted the importance of the role played by AUB in creating a suitable atmosphere for the blind to participate in developing their communities, and serving their nations, praising the role of Al-Nuaimi in this regard.
He also commended the efforts exerted by the State of Qatar to improve the life of people with disabilities in various fields, in general, and the blind across the Arab world, in particular.
He underlined Bahrain’s interest in supporting people with disabilities, including the blind, in all fields, and at the local, regional and international levels.
AUB chief commended the efforts made by the Labour and Social Development Ministry in caring for and rehabilitating the blind, citing its efforts to harness all its potentials to meet the needs of this segment so as to be able to play their role in society.
