Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received yesterday at Al Mamoura in Abu Dhabi President Hassan Shaikh Mahmoud of Somalia, who is currently on a visit to the UAE.
Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Somali president and his accompanying delegation and discussed with him ways to strengthen bilateral ties in the interest of the two brotherly people. He wished Somalia further stability and prosperity and reaffirmed that the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will continue to support humanitarian and developmental efforts in Somalia.
President Hassan Shaikha Mahmoud expressed appreciation for the UAE's efforts and initiatives in Somalia.
"I am here to tell you Somalia has changed a lot for the better. There is a marked progress there, thanks to the support given by the UAE. The people of Somalia are optimistic that there will be a better tomorrow," he added.
The two sides also discussed regional developments and issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and a number of senior officials.
