Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr conferred on Saturday with World Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kristalina Georgieva on cooperation in the field of governance.
The meeting was held on the fringe of WB Spring meetings, currently in session here. The meeting was attended by WB Executive Director Merza Hassan, Alternate Executive at the Board of the World Bank Group Ragui El-Etreby and WB Country Director Asad Alam.
A statement released by the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation said Nasr asserted that the Egyptian government was looking forward to making use of WB expertise in the field of governance and its support for a number of countries in building influential foundations that can be held accountable with the aim of achieving development.
Nasr greeted Georgieva on assuming her new post in the WB and voiced hope that Egypt could boost its relations with the WB group in the coming phase.
The Egyptian minister also tackled Egypt's efforts to combat corruption and the role of the monitoring bodies in this regard.
Georgieva, for her part, praised the efforts exerted by Egypt in the field of governance and corruption combat. She also announced the WB approval on supporting the Egyptian government efforts in governance so as to positively reflect on international reports released by the WB on Egypt.
Nasr extended an invitation to the WB CEO to visit Egypt and she welcomed the invitation.
