Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met today with Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Angelino Alfano.
They discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in Palestinian territories. Abbas stressed the Palestinian administration's commitment to a two-state solution an establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the border of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For his part, the Italian Minister said that the current administration was also committed to a two state solution and is ready to help the Palestinian people build their institutions. Alfano said that Italy considers Israel's settlement policy as illegal and added that they voted in favor of resolution 2334 at the UN Security Council
