Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud met on Thursday visiting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in the presence of Saudi Crown Prince and Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier and Defense Minister. 

During the meeting, Sisi hailed Saudi Arabia's support for Egypt and underlined the need of promoting cooperation and joint coordination between the two countries in order to confront the various challenges, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef. 

Sisi also reiterated keenness on the security of Gulf region, which is an integral part of Egypt's national security, added the spokesman. 

Sisi further underlined the importance of promoting Arab solidarity, especially during the current phase. 

The Arab solidarity contributes to protecting the Arab countries from the threats and confronting any attempt to meddle in their internal affairs, he added. 

It is important to work on restoring the stability of the countries, which suffer from the scourge of terrorism and armed confrontations, he further said. 

The Egyptian president, meanwhile, underlined the need of raising combat efficiency of the Armed Forces in the Arab countries and providing training on staging armed confrontations against terrorist groups in order to contribute effectively to protecting Arab countries, according to the spokesman. 

Sisi hailed maneuvers Raad al Shamal (Thunder of the North), adding that these drills are not designed to send any message to any one but they reflect the Arabs' ability on unity and defending their interests. 

The meeting also took up bilateral ties and the need of promoting them, especially in uprooting terrorism, entrenching peace and stability, added the spokesman. 

The Saudi monarch, for his part underlined the strategic importance for Egypt and hailed Egypt's stances in defending Arab causes, said the spokesman.
