President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held on Thursday a phone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to express concern over serious Israeli attacks in Haram el Sharif.
Sisi warned that such violations would lead to grave consequences on regional peace and stability, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Yousef said.
He underlined the importance that Israel ends its continued provocations and attacks against Haram el Sharif, expressing Egypt's support of the Palestinian people and leadership in their efforts to protect Islamic holy places in eastern el Quds.
He expressed Egypt's hope that eastern el Quds would become the capital of the independent Palestinian state in accordance with international terms of reference.
Abbas thanked Sisi for his support of the Palestinian issue and for his keenness to push forward Arab and international efforts to reach a fair and permanent settlement that guarantees all Palestinian rights and the establishment of its independent state.
