Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, who is currently visiting Prague, met with Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka to review Egypt’s latest political and economic accomplishments.
Shoukry shed light on the outcome of the Egypt Economic Development Conference, held last month, and the new Suez Canal project, which is about to be completed, Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Aati said Saturday.
The two officials agreed to hold the joint economic committee and exchange high-level visits between the two countries to promote ties in the various domains, the spokesman said.
The meeting took up the unstable situation in the Middle East with Sobotka saying his country, a European Union member, has been following up developments in the region, especially in Libya, Syria and Yemen, the spokesman added.
Shoukry, upon a request by the Czech premier, expounded on the political and security situation in Libya while underlining that a political solution is needed concurrently with fighting terrorist organizations.
The Egyptian foreign minister also touched upon the Syrian crisis and efforts to unify the vision of opposition factions, Abdel Aati said.
