Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has conferred with Jean-Marie Guehenno, the chief of the International Crisis Group, on relations between research studies centers in Egypt and the group as well as studies made on the crises of the the Middle East region and other world regions
In a statement released on Tuesday, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel Aatti said the meeting took up the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, efforts exerted to revive the peace process in accordance with the international terms of reference and international efforts to reconstruct Gaza.
Shoukry also posted the chief of the group on the Egyptian efforts exerted to lift the Israeli siege on the strip, alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and open Rafah crossing on regular bases taking into consideration the standing security conditions.
The Egyptian top diplomat also briefed the international official on the situation in Libya and the efforts made by UN envoy Bernandino Leon to work out a political settlement in Libya. He also reviewed the outcome of the second meeting of Libya tribes held in Cairo and the efforts to support the legitimate government of Libya and the fight against terrorist groups.
They also reviewed the Syrian crisis and means of working out a political solution based on Geneva I resolutions to bring to a halt the daily killing of the Syrian people.
