The Cairo Criminal Court has adjourned until Tuesday the trial of 67 elements of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group implicated in the assassination of prosecutor general Hisham Barakat.
The defendants also face charges of spying for Palestinian Hamas movement with the aim of carrying out terrorist acts inside Egypt.
The court decided to delay the trial to continue hearing the defendants' pleading.
Sixteen of the defendants are being tried in absentia.
Hisham Barakat died in hospital after a bomb attack on his car in the Cairo suburb of Heliopolis in June 2015.
Prosecutor General Nabil Sadeq had referred the defendants to the criminal court to stand trial over the assassination of Barakat.
