As part of its monthly film program, on 15 March, Bibliotheca Alexandria Cinema will be screening two documentary films on Icelandic singer and musician Bjork.
The two films, Bjork: Biophilia Live and When Bjork Met Attenborough, explore the relationship between nature and music.
Bjork: Biophilia Live, produced in 2014, is a film documenting Bjork's concert, offering footage of the artist's live performance of the album with the same title.
The film also shows the other projects Bjork undertook relating to the release of Biophilia, including the release of an “app album” pairing technology with music, and her touring educational program for children about music and science.
The second film is a television documentary film showing Bjork in conversation with Sir. David Attenborough, the prolific naturalist, broadcaster and narrator of BBC’s Planet Earth series.
After starting as lead singer of 80's alternative rock band The Sugarcubes, Bjork began her solo career in 1993.
She has since been internationally recognised and acclaimed for her avant-garde approach to composing, incorporating sounds from several music genres alongside her distinctive voice, award-winning music videos and special live performances.
