The official trailer for Universal’s “The Mummy” is finally here, and it is terrifying.
The thrilling clip, shared on Tom Cruise’s Twitter and Facebook on Sunday, is a non-stop adrenaline-pumping two and a half minutes long and looks pretty deadly.
In the new reboot, an ancient princess, played by Algerian-French actress Sofia Boutella, is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert and wreaks havoc on modern-day civilization.
“This film is going to be very scary,” says Cruise. “I grew up watching these monster movies and they’re different really (from) what I consider to be modern horror.
“The Mummy” also stars Hollywood actor Russell Crowe and English actress Annabelle Wallis, and was partly shot in several Moroccan locations including Ouarzazate, Errachidia, Erfoud and Merzouga, between 20 June and 7 July.
“The Mummy” is the first outing in a new franchise being launched by Universal next year as part of its Monsters Universe series; a collection which is reviving classic characters from its vault including Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster and the Invisible Man.
“The Mummy” is due in theaters in June 2017.
