Actress Cate Blanchett
London - UPI

Actress Cate Blanchett will be the recipient of the British Film Institute's BFI Fellowship at this year's London Film Festival.

The fellowship is described as BFI's highest honor and has been awarded to Stephen Frears, Sir Christopher Lee, Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and most recently, Al Pacino and Mel Brooks.

"Cate Blanchett is a compelling and brave actress whose mesmerising screen presence has captivated audiences since her earliest roles," BFI chairman Greg Dyke said in a statement. "We are absolutely delighted to honour her extraordinary talents with a BFI Fellowship at this year's [London Film Festival] awards."

The awards ceremony will take place in London on Oct. 17 during the festival.

On the same night of Blanchett's honor, her latest film Truth, also starring Robert Redford, will make its U.K. debut. The film follows the story of a CBS journalist and 60 Minutes producer Mary Mapes and her process of exposing a risky story about President George W. Bush.

Blanchett makes another appearance in the festival on Oct. 14 in Carol.
