Actor Dwayne Johnson has now signed on to bring Disney's classic theme park ride Jungle Cruise to the big screen.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed Johnson will star in the long in development adaption, and the script will be written by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, whose last writing credits include the Will Smith vehicle Focus.
Disney's Jungle Cruise will based on the Disneyland theme park ride of the same name that first opened along with park back in 1955. The boat ride simulated journeying through exotic settings such as the Amazon River, encountering piranhas, hippos and other wildlife along the way.
Disney had plans to develop Jungle Cruise starring Tom Hanks and Tim Allen back in 2011. That iteration would have been set in modern times while this new take will be a period piece going back to the original look and feel of the ride from 1955.
The San Andreas star took to Twitter to announce his excitement for the film, tweeting, "This is big (like my head). Couldn't as for better partners in DISNEY. #AdventureAwaits #JungleCruise"
