Colorado will serve as the shooting grounds for Quentin Tarantino's next western film The Hateful Eight.
According to The Denver Post, Colorado's Economic Development Commission approved a $5 million incentive package Friday to lure production of the film, beating out the incentives from its competitors Utah and Wyoming.
The flick has a $44 million budget, and it would be the largest production to take place in Colorado since 1969's True Grit. The movie is set to be filmed on a 900-acre ranch west of Telluride, pending local approval.
"The whole movie's going to be shot here, exteriors and interiors," said state's film commissioner Donald Zuckerman. "They're going to build it on a ranch."
The Hateful Eight is set in post-Civil War Wyoming and centers on a group of bounty hunters looking for shelter during a blizzard. The western is will star Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, and Michael Madsen, and Academy-Award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is rumored to be in talks to participate on the film.
Tarantino vowed to drop the project earlier this year after the script leaked online, but the director later reworked the script and announced he planned to shoot it as his next project. The film is slated for a fall 2015 release.
