Tim Burton will direct a live-action remake of the animated classic Dumbo, Disney announced Tuesday.
Dumbo, which first hit theaters in 1941, tells the story of a baby circus elephant, whose ears are so large he uses them to fly.
The new film will reportedly broaden the scope of the original, adding "a unique family story that parallels Dumbo's journey," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Burton previously worked with Disney on 2010's Alice in Wonderland.
Dumbo is the latest on a growing list of Disney classics slated for live-action remakes, including The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella.
According to Variety, Burton's new version of the iconic film will feature both live-action and animated elements.
Disney has yet to announce a release date.
