The would-be 10th annual Zombie Walk at San Diego's Comic-Con will not take place this year. Instead, the public event will be put on "indefinite hiatus" in response to an incident which occurred during last year's event.
The Zombie Walk Facebook page released a statement Monday informing fans that there will not be a scheduled walk during Comic-Con and instead directed die-hard zombie-lovers to a cosplay meet-up taking place nearby.
"For everyone inquiring about whether there is a walk this year, the simple answer is no, there will not be a walk this year," the statement read. "The event is on indefinite hiatus due to legal matters stemming from the vehicular incident following last year's walk."
During 2014's walk, a 64-year-old woman was injured when Matthew Pocci accelerated into an intersection and hit her. According to the LA Times, Pocci claims that walk participants had started surrounding his car, frightening his passengers. The 48-year-old is set for trial in October on a felony charge of reckless driving causing bodily injury, the Times reports.
"The walk may return next year, but speculation is not invited at this time," the Zombie Walk post continued. "If you're looking for something to do on Saturday... I was recently made aware of a horror cosplay meet-up/photo op taking place at Children's Park at 5:00PM. This is not a walk; just a meet-up for horror-themed cosplayers to hang out, take pictures, and make friends."
