Egyptian film Asmaa is an 'Evolutionary' triumph as it makes peaceful waves for Arab film at an American film festival. It is said that good things come in threes, and this was borne out when Egyptian AIDS film "Asmaa" won a hatrick at the inauguratory (EIFF) Evolution International Film Festival, showcased in Hollywood America. This film festival's mantra, from the international founders that include two Arabic filmakers, Seif Abdalla and Mahmoud Awad, is to Make Peace Through Art. The Evolution's mission is to provide a platform for independent films with a mission "to bring cultures together, share visions, believes and help each other understand our conflicts." Nearly 50 films from different parts of the globe participated in the ripe but competitive festival. Asmaa prevailed to bag Best Picture, Best Actress (Hind Sabr) and Best Actor (Majid Kadoana) Awards. The film that deals with the taboo theme of HIV in an Egyptian woman, stars Hind Sabri, Majid Cdoana, Hany Adel, Ahmed Kamal, Samia Asaad and Fatima Adel. It is written and directed by Amr Salama.
