Egyptian star, Hani Salama has stressed that the role of a priest in his new movie, The Priest, and also a Muslim sheikh in TV series, The Sheikh, is a coincidence. Salama told Arabstoday that the projects were introduced to him at the same time, and that the allure of playing both of the characters was too much to turn down. “I read the two scripts and I was considering refusing one of the roles,” stated the actor. “After reading the scripts I changed my point of view and accepted both roles. I just could not refuse either of them.” Salama believes that both projects are important in discussing religious issues. The Sheikh is Salama’s first staring role on a TV programme.
