The tourism activity flourished three days before the Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC) is held, said the Head of Crisis and Operations Administration Department Essam Khedr.
As many as 11,750 tourists arrived in Sharm el Sheikh on board of 54 international and domestic flights.
In statements on Monday, Khedr underlined that Taba border crossing received 1,643 tourists coming to resorts located in South Sinai to spend their vacations.
The occupancy rates soared to 50 percent in South Sinai, he noted, adding that the rates in Sharm el Shiekh reached 60 percent.
The rates are expected to reach 90 percent after the delegation participating in the EEDC arrive to the tourist city.
