As many as 1,606 passengers arrived at Nuweiba port over the past 24 hours, Spokesman for the Red Sea Port Authority Abdel Rahim Mostafa said Saturday.

Some 419 travelers left the port, he added.

Moustafa said 47 vehicles and 15 freezer containers have also arrived at the port, while two ships left with 13 vehicles, 34 freezer containers and 300 fish parcels.

The port is in the coastal town of Nuweiba in the eastern part of Sinai Peninsula. It is located on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba.

It serves travelers and trade with Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Between the town and the port is a strip of modern hotels, catering to beach holiday makers and divers.
