Ajman Tourism Development Department announced Thursday results of Ajman tourism sector statistics for the year 2014, on the sidelines of ITB Berlin 2015.
'Ajman tourism revenues reached nearly Dh 300 million in 2014, compared to Dh 220 million in 2013, Dalal Al Marzouqi, ATDD Research and Development Executive, said, noting that average room rates in Ajman was Dh 275 for one night.
The number of hotel and hotel apartments' guests in 2014 increased to 850,000, compared to about 600,000 in the previous year, she added. In 2014, average hotel occupancy rates reached 65 percent, Al Marzouqi said.
Four-star hotels came first before five-star ones on the list of occupancy by guest numbers, while the list of occupancy classification by nationality came as follows: Russia, CIS market, UAE nationals and residents, Arab countries, GCC countries, Asia and Europe, according to Al Marzouqi. She added that about 100,000 Europeans visited Ajman in 2014, 30,000 of them were German citizens.
As for the number of Ajman Museum visitors, it was doubled in 2014 to reach 26,000 visitors, compared to 13,000 in 2013, she said.
The number of hotel establishments in Ajman reached 31 in 2014, compared to 29 in 2013, she said, adding that the total number of rooms and units became 2992 in 2014, from 2610 in 2013. The number of hotel beds reached 4938 in 2014, compared to 4235 in 2013.
ATDD is currently leading Ajman's delegation to ITB-Berlin 2015. Also present among the delegation are representatives of major hospitality sector operators and Ajman Stud.
