Dubai - Arabstoday

Boeing Co. said it has lost an order for 35 single-aisle 737s from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), the leasing company that cancelled its remaining order from Airbus last week. "Boeing and Dubai Aerospace Enterprise have reached an agreement to cancel the remaining (35) 737s on order. "The cancellation is reflected on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website. DAE has now 21 Boeing unfilled orders [15 747-8Fs and six 777s]," Boeing said in a statement emailed to Gulf News. The Boeing jet order was valued at about $2.8 billion (Dh10.29 billion) at list prices. Dubai Aerospace still has 15 747-8 jumbo jets and six 777s on order from Boeing. Saj Ahmad, a UK-based aviation analyst with FBE Aerospace, said, "As expected, DAE has terminated 35 orders for Boeing 737s, hot on the heels of the cancellation of Airbus orders just last week. As of now, DAE has some 46 aeroplanes on lease and it won't be long before we see these sold off to other parties. DAE is being wound up and it's leaving the leasing game for good." State-owned DAE was set up in 2006 with the goal of becoming one of the world's biggest aircraft lessors. It ordered 200 airliners from Airbus and Boeing during the 2007 Dubai air show.
