NATS recently completed work on the Qatar Airspace Design and Implementation (QADI) project for the New Doha International Airport (NDIA). With its dual runway operation and systemised airspace design, NDIA – now known as Hamad International Airport – will offer more than double the capacity of the existing airport. At all stages of the project, NATS worked closely with QCAA experts to develop and validate the optimum design possible, taking into account all known constraints. Ahmed Al-Eshaq, director of Air Navigation at the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority said: “The airspace design provided by NATS is expected to be the backbone of the Qatar airspace in the foreseeable future.” As well as Qatar, NATS is currently working on projects in Kuwait and Oman, and has previously worked with Bahrain and at Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai.
