Travel makes you rich as a person and you learn a lot aboutyour own self "You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself." Alan Alda Till you leave the secure environment of your home, you will never realise the true potential of your self. Few weeks before, academician Aseema S travelled alone from New Delhi to New York. That was the first time she was travelling out of the country. She was unsure of herself. But she came back as a completely different person, thanks to her three week stay in USA. "The trip to USA changed me as a person. Before my trip, I had never travelled alone forget about going to a new country all alone. But this trip made me much more confident and I could navigate my way through both East Coast and West Coast." With a laugh, she adds, "In fact, now I encourage everybody to travel alone at least once in life. That will change you as an individual." Travelling teaches you many lessons which no classrooms can. Years back, Aditi Ray travelled all alone on a two week trip to south India. "Those days, travelling alone was something not many had even heard of. I had to bear many curious glances. But travelling alone made me realise my own strengths. I had earlier thought I wouldn't enjoy being on my own. But I enjoyed being with myself and enjoyed my share of solitude." Travelling pushes to do things which you would probably not do otherwise. As says Prashant Rawal, a young professional, "During a recent trip to Rishikesh, I did river rafting. Yes, at first I was fearful and apprehensive. But then once I started it, I enjoyed it immensely. In fact, I am already planning my next river rafting sojourn." He adds, "Travelling is the best way to deal with one's fear." Gliding where the wind takes, going on a water scooter in the Arabian sea, camping in the thick forest, tasting tea in a far away tea garden in Assam or listening to Baul songs in West Bengal, travel can enrich you like nothing.
