Egypt's Immigration Minister Nabila Makram discussed on Thursday with Italian officials a number of issues related to the illegal immigration and security.
This came during series of meetings held between Makram and a raft of Italian officials in Italy.
Following the meetings, the Egyptian minister headed for Sicily island to inquire after Egyptian migrants, especially minors.
Speaking to MENA, Egypt's Consul General in Rome Sherif Al Gamal said Makram and her accompanying delegation reviewed the measures to register migrants and provide the primary care for those coming.
Also, the Egyptian minister gathered with a raft of Italian officials of the justice and interior ministries in Sicily to follow up the conditions of Egyptian migrants, especially minors who talked to the minister about their problems, including their need to find suitable jobs for them, he added.
Makram expounded Egypt's efforts to face growing illegal migration during a conference organized in Sicily and attended by representatives of the Italian Justice Ministry, Al Gamal asserted.
For its part, the Italian side welcomed the fruitful meetings held between the Egyptian minister and Italian officials to discuss boosting bilateral ties in the consulate domains in general.
Also, the Italian officials hailed efforts exerted by the Egyptian government to combat illegal immigration, said Al Gamal.
