Egypt is taking part in the World Travel Market (WTM) - which opened on Tuesday in Sao Paulo - to promote medical tourism and the Holy family's journey, the Egyptian ambassador to Brazil reported.
Five Egyptian travel agencies are participating in the three-day event to promote tourism in Egypt, Alaa Rashed said in a statement on Wednesday.
Representatives from the Egyptian companies and the Tourist Authority will hold meetings with representatives from Brazilian, Latin American and international travel agencies, he said.
The meetings are meant to promote tourism in Egypt, he said, noting that the number of Brazilian tourists visiting Egypt increased in 2017.
The World Travel Market Latin America is the leading global event for the Latin American travel industry.
The WTM Latin America is a showcase for new developments, destinations, offers and technologies which attracts with over 700 exhibiting companies to meet and do business professionals from the travel industry.
WTM Latin America generated more than dlrs 370 million in new business in 2016 and will host more than 6,500 tourism professionals.
Lawrence Reinisch, Director at WTM Latin America, said: “With more exhibitors and buyers taking part in 2017, we will undoubtedly have a record number of participants.”
