Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathi said EgyptAir fleet is planned to reach 93 planes by 2021.
The minister reviewed on Tuesday his ministry's plan for developing the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, the Egyptian Aviation Academy, EgyptAir Holding company and the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation during a meeting of the parliamentary committee for tourism and aviation.
Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal attended the meeting along with a number of the ministry's leaderships, the parliament said in a statement on Tuesday.
Fathi expounded the ministry's strategic vision on developing EgyptAir company in the coming 10 years, especially upgrading the company's fleet.
He noted that the ministry was planning to increase the company's fleet to 105 planes by 2021, but the ministry reduced this number to 93 over the US dollar exchange rate rise.
The ministry also tackled the development plan of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation as well as new airports.
The minister also spoke about establishing Ras Sedr airport and expanding Nozha and Borg el Arab airports.
He also touched on plans for developing runways and the infrastructure of airports.
Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathi also reviewed the investment plan of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority.
During a meeting of the parliamentary committee for tourism and aviation, he said the plan includes providing a giant computer system to enhance contacts among the authority's various sectors.
The plan also includes establishing 30 automatic meteorological stations in addition to fitting it out with five weather radars.
As for developing the Egyptian Aviation Academy, the minister said a specialized studies building will be set up in the vicinity of the Cairo International Airport.
Also, four developed training planes will be added to the academy's fleet.
Meanwhile, Sahar Talaat Moustafa, the committee chairwoman, said the aviation sector contributes effectively to the Egyptian economy, adding that the Aviation Ministry seeks always to promote Egypt's position in the aviation domain at the African, regional and international levels.
