Egyptian national airlines EgyptAir resumed its flights to Tunisia Saturday, one day after canceling them due to the strike of Tunis Airport over the recent assassination of Tunisian opposition leader Chokri Belaid, official news agency MENA reported. Flights of TunisAir and some foreign airlines, including domestic and international routes, were suspended Friday following the general strike organized by Tunisian main labor union UGTT. Belaid, a leftist sharp critic of Tunisian ruling Islamist Ennahdha party, was shot dead Wednesday outside his house, which triggered a wave of public anger and nationwide protests ever since. Tens of thousands of Tunisians took to the streets Friday in a mass funeral procession for the slain opposition leader.
