Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his accompanying delegation left here on Monday for Berlin on a four-day visit for talks with senior German officials.
Shoukry is scheduled to meet with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, National Security Adviser Christoph Heusgen, Deputy Chancellor and Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel, Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière and Minister of Economic Cooperation Gerd Müller.
The Egyptian top diplomat will also hold a series of meetings with the German parliament (Bundestag) members, including the parliament majority leader Volker Kauder, as well as representatives of other political blocs. Shoukry will also meet with representatives of the German business community and chairmen of a number of mega companies.
Talks will cover the conditions in Egypt and the Middle East region.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said the visit comes at a time when the Egyptian-German relations were beefed up in the wake of the successful visit of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Germany in June.
Shourky's talks with the German officials will tackle means of pushing forward the Egyptian-German relations and further promoting them in the political, economic and trade domains.
Talks will also cover the situation in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Yemen, the Middle East peace process, as well as the Egyptian stance towards international terrorism and Cairo's efforts to combat the terrorist organizations and extremist thoughts.
