Prime Minister Sherif Ismail met Tuesday with the Canadian ambassador in Cairo and a delegation of Canada's Bombardier Inc. to discuss steps taken to establish a suspension railway (monorail) between Giza governorate and the 6th of October City.
The project will help ease traffic between Giza governorate and the 6th of October City, Ismail said, seeing in it a modern solution to the problem of overcrowdedness.
The prime minister stressed that his government pays great attention to improving the transport sector in the current stage.
A plan has already been outlined to expand monorail programs in Egypt, Ismail noted.
The meeting today tackled the funding specifics and ways to bankroll the project and the steps of implementation, said Cabinet spokesman Hossam Qawish.
The premier and his guests also discussed the possibility of implementing the monorail as a joint venture between the government and the Canadian company, Qawish added.
