Egypt's Ambassador to Jordan Tarek Adel on Sunday called for outlining joint tourism programs between Egypt and Jordan with a view to encouraging tourism exchange.
The Egyptian envoy was addressing an event organized by the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA) under the theme "Opportunities and fields of Jordan's tourism cooperation in the region".
Envoy Adel hailed the time-honored relations binding Egypt and Jordan as strategic ones, noting that such deep ties between the two countries at all levels are reflected in the existing cooperation in various domains, including tourism.
He underlined both countries' willingness to boost cooperation in the tourism sphere, highlighting endeavors to outline effective plans in this regard.
Egypt attaches great importance to cooperation with Jordan in religious tourism, in light of historical sites in both countries, Adel stated.
The number of Jordanian tourists who visit Egypt surpasses the number of Egyptian tourists to Jordan, Jordan's Tourism Minister Lina Annab said, noting that the Jordan Tourism Board has organized a visit to Egypt in 2016 to promote Coptic tourism to Jordan.
