Emirates has revealed that Chicago will become its ninth destination in the US, when flights launch later this year. Commencing on 5 August 2014, the new service to the ‘Windy City’ will operate daily using a three-class, 250-seat Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. The launch of flights to Chicago will come just five months after Emirates starts operating daily flights to Boston. Services to the Massachusetts city get underway on 10 March 2014. “Chicago has long been a destination in the United States which Emirates has wished to serve,” said Emirates’ president, Tim Clark. “Like Dubai, Chicago is a major global trade and transportation hub with great cultural diversity that is an economic engine for its region. “We welcome the chance to establish a non-stop trade bridge between these two great cities and, via our Dubai hub, to more efficiently link Chicago area passengers and shippers with our international network beyond Dubai to over 140 destinations spanning six continents,” he added. The new service will operate every day, departing Dubai International Airport at 0945 and arriving into Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport at 1525. The return flight will then leave Chicago at 2035 hours, arriving back into Dubai at 1910 the next day. Set on the banks of Lake Michigan in the state of Illinois, Chicago is the third biggest city in the US, with a population of 2.7 million. It will become Emirates’ ninth destination in the country, following Boston, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC. Source: Travel Daily
