Beirut - Arabstoday

Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Georgia’s Prime Minister Nika Gilauri agreed to lift visa restrictions on Lebanese visiting Georgia during talks at the Grand Serail Thursday. “Among decisions taken in this meeting were lifting visa restrictions on Lebanese willing to visit Georgia in a move by Georgia’s Prime Minister to encourage tourism and businessmen,” Mikati told reporters during a joint news conference with Gilauri following their talks. For his part, Gilauri said that he is specifically interested in how Georgia could contribute to boosting the energy sector in Lebanon since he served as an energy minister for four years. “We will study the possibility of transmitting electricity from Georgia to Lebanon passing through Turkey. This could take place through Syria or by installing pipes under the sea,” he said. “So, I believe there is an opportunity for Lebanon to benefit from electricity transmission while maintaining low cost and through environment friendly means,” he added.
