The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) technical housing committee met here on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 13th meeting of the bloc's housing ministers.
The committee's 24th meeting today approved the agenda submitted by the GCC Secretariat General, said head of the Kuwaiti delegation Eng. Yousef bin Eid, adding that they had also agreed on the bylaw and conditions of the GCC housing prize.
Participants also agreed upon a proposal for holding a coordination meeting for the Arab housing ministers, and approved a program for field visits to housing projects in the GCC, as well as another program for organizing specialized technical meetings for the GCC six member states.
Meanwhile, Bin Eid congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti people on the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir, naming him a humanitarian leader.
For his part, Director of GCC Secretariat General's Municipalities and Housing Affair Department Eid Al-Khaledi said that the technical committee meeting focused on effective recommendations to be submitted to the undersecretaries and ministers to help them take sound decisions in their meetings over the coming two days.
He noted that a meeting is due to be held on September 20 upon a Kuwaiti invitation to coordinate the GCC stances regarding the Arab housing strategy for sustainable development.
The GCC Housing Ministers will meet on Thursday to approve what the specialized committees have agreed upon for achieving the expectations of the GCC people regarding housing.(end) am.tab.msa
