Khartoum is gearing up to cater to not just business travellers but also for sports-related activities. The city is hosting the first-ever international shooting competition from 17-22 January 2014 under the patronage of the Sudanese vice president. The competition has brought together delegations from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen and Algeria as well as the host – Republic of Sudan. The Corinthia Hotel Khartoum will play host to the international shooting competition. “The hotel is becoming synonymous to all kinds of indoor events. These range from conference, exhibitions and now even sporting events. This international tournament particularly attracts Arab nations. Furthermore, by supporting and hosting such initiatives, the hotel keeps spearheading new activities that the country is endeavouring to attract”, said Nicholas Borg, general manager of the hotel. The Sudanese vice president has showed his unanimous support for this, by mentioning in his opening speech that the event is in the name of ‘love, peace and friendship’ among all nations present.
