Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) and China's Quanzhou port have signed a letter of intent as part of a plan to boost cooperation with the world's leading ports.
KPA designate director-general Walid Al-Tom signed the letter with a visiting Chinese delegation led by Quanzhou deputy director-general, the authority said in a press statement on Wednesday.
It added that the meeting had also addressed steps to further cooperation between the KPA affiliate ports and the Chinese one, allowing both to exchange data. The two sides also had comprehensive studies aiming to establish constructive communications and ties through friendly consultations.
The letter signed today seeks to consolidate cooperation in fields of management, operation, IT and communication as well as maritime transport industry and marketing, it stressed.
The Chinese delegation invited KPA officials to visit Quanzhou to have first-hand experience of the management, technical and operation details. They were, meanwhile, provided with data and statistics on the volume of ships and vessels at the Kuwaiti ports, and their shipping capacity.
