German flag carrier Lufthansa has cancelled 100 flights into and out of Frankfurt International Airport on Thursday. The cancellation precedes a seven-hour strike by ground controllers at the airport. They were due to stop work from 3 pm (1400GMT). If the employers did not concede to their pay demands, the air traffic controllers union will call an 18-hour strike on Friday. The airport is Lufthansa's home base.
