Luxor witnessed Wednesday the alignment of the sun on Hatshepsut Temple on the West Bank of the Upper Egyptian city.
The solar alignment is one of the most important astronomical phenomena, said Mohamed Badr, the governor of Luxor.
It greatly contributes to activating tourism to the city, with visitors getting to know better about the ancient Egyptian civilization.
Hundreds of tourists gathered earlier today to witness the phenomenon, said Moustafa Waziri, the director general of the Luxor monuments department.
The solar alignment on Hatshepsut Temple occurs every year on December 21-22, Waziri noted.
