National Ferries Company (NFC) said that passenger traffic and cargo on ferries increased during the first quarter of 2017 compared with the same period in 2016.
Statistics from the company indicated that the number of passengers on board of ferries increased during the first three months of 2017 by 5 per cent to reach 54,544 compared to 51,824 passengers during the same period last year.
The data showed that vehicles shipment during the first quarter of 2017 also recorded a rise of 13 per cent through shipping 14,027 vehicles compared to 12,382 vehicles during the same period last year.
Statistics showed that the volume of cargo recorded a decline during the first quarter of 2017 to reach 2,512 tons compared to 7,130 tonnes during the same period last year.
