Passport issuing centers were opened in 15 regions and states in addition to the existing offices in Yangon and Mandalay over the last week, official media reported Wednesday. An eligible citizen can get a passport within two weeks instead of 21 days in the past at the cost of 25,000 Kyats (25 U.S. dollars said the New Light of Myanmar. In the past, obtaining or renewing a passport was a complex procedure and many applications were arbitrarily rejected. If the purpose of travel is for medical care, a passport will be issued within three to five days, other media reported.
