Private jet operator Majestic Wings Private Airplane Charter plans to move to the Dubai World Central (DWC) in mid-2013, a statement from DWC said yesterday. It added that the move is in line with DWC announcing that construction is underway at DWC's Aviation District, a purpose-built area designed to meet the needs of aviation businesses. DWC said leasing negotiations have commenced with FBOs (fixed base operators) and other aviation businesses. The move, according to DWC, will make Majestic Wings among the first aviation companies to set up operations at DWC, in line with the airport's strategy of expanding general aviation services at the new airport. Yet another private jet operator, ExecuJet Middle East, said recently it is planning a move to Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International as early as next year but is waiting for the infrastructure at the new airport to be completed. Dubai Airports launched general aviation operations at DWC in April last year with the first flight as the airport operator still waits to begin passenger operations from DWC. Majestic Wings will develop a class A hangar, occupying a 7,360-square metre plot, DWC stated. "Majestic Wings' moving to DWC is among the first of many expansions in the aviation sector," Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, said in a statement. He added that DWC continues to energise the industry with opportunities for business growth.
