Qatar Airways in conjunction with Qatar Charity hosted a special Iftar for more than 100 orphan children living in Qatar as part of the Holy Month of Ramadan celebrations. The event, organised by Qatar Airways’ Doha Sales Department, aimed to provide the children with an unforgettable evening of entertainment and loving hospitality, the Doha-headquartered carrier said Monday. The children were accompanied by family members or friends who also enjoyed activities such as henna drawing and face painting as well as the chance to enjoy a delicious Iftar meal. The children enjoyed activities such as train rides, a bouncing castle and received gifts including branded Qatar Airways school bags, a cuddly toy and a brand new T-shirt. Qatar Airways Vice President Commercial Doha, Ehab Amin, said the airline always looks forward to supporting the local community through events during Ramadan. “We plan to hold the event on an annual basis to ensure these children continue to experience these acts of generosity, charity and compassion that make Ramadan such a special time. “The Holy Month of Ramadan is a time of giving – to the community, each other and to those less fortunate than ourselves,” Amin said. Qatar Charity Managing Director Support Centres and Affairs, Ahmed Salih Al Ali said, “The aim of holding this Iftar with enjoyable activities and wonderful hospitality was to bring happiness and joy to the orphans of Qatar,” he said. Al Ali appreciated Qatar Airways for its efforts in supporting the Qatari community and said that Qatar Charity welcomes such initiatives from key local organizations that are of benefit to the local community. Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 15 years of operations, currently operating a modern fleet of 110 aircraft to 118 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America. Over the next few months, Qatar Airways will launch services to a diverse portfolio of new routes, including Yangon, Myanmar (October 3); Maputo, Mozambique (October 31) and a date yet-to-be- announced to the Serbian capital Belgrade.
