RAK Airways, the national carrier of Ras Al Khaimah, announced a one-off special fare promotion today of AED1 flights to all its destinations to celebrate the first anniversary of its relaunch. The state-backed carrier relaunched on October 10 last year and the special promotion is to celebrate its one year anniversary. The AED1 special seat deals will be available online from midnight on Sunday October 9 to midnight on Monday October 10 and will be valid for travel from October 10 to March 28, 2012. "Over the last twelve months, RAK Airways has enjoyed considerable success, due to the support of its loyal customers. We very much wanted to share our success with them and our AED1 special fare promotion is our way of saying thank you," said RAK Airways CEO, Omar Jahameh. Jahameh said RAK Airways had maintained an average load factor of around 80 percent over the last year and it plans to capitalise on this by launching more routes. "This is an important milestone in the making of our history, and a major stepping stone to more exciting developments - including new routes - which we will be announcing very soon,” he said. In August, RAK Airways confirmed it is seeking to expand its services to India and initial talks with officials had been "very productive". Discussions included the possibility of flying from Ras Al Khaimah to Kochi, Trivandrum and Mangalore, he said in a statement. The carrier currently flies to Cairo, Jeddah, Doha, Dhaka, Calicut and Chittagong from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, which is located 30 minutes from Sharjah and 45 minutes from Dubai.
