the red earth terraces in Hongtudi Town of Dongchuan District in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province. Located mainly at an altitude between 1,800 and 2,600 meters, the terrace's brownish-red color comes from its rich deposit of iron and aluminium.
