Tourists and residents spending their Eid holidays in Dubai will be treated to big celebrations this year with the city's tourism authority announcing a host of new activities. Shopping promotions, spectacular firework displays and cultural shows will mark the onset of festivities celebrated as part of the ‘Eid in Dubai' campaign. "As we look forward to offering our residents and visitors yet another feast of world-class entertainment during Eid in Dubai, we can take great pride in looking back on a summer that has become extremely special because of our extended campaign, ‘Summer is Dubai',” said Laila Suhail, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE). Shopping malls in Dubai will also provide Eid shoppers with a chance to win cash rewards with as much as Dh2 million up for grabs. A total of 18 malls under The Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) will participate in the initiative. Majid Al Ghurair, chairman of DSMG, said: "Eid is a festival of sharing and giving and we are extremely delighted to be part of this fantastic initiative by the DFRE.” Events to be held during the Eid season in Dubai: Eid fireworks The Dubai night sky will come alive during the Eid festivities with some of the best pyrotechnics staged by world-renowned experts. A grand fireworks display will take place on the Dubai Creek at Al Seef Street, commencing at 9.30pm, while a spectacular light, sound and fireworks show will be held at Dubai Festival City daily during the Eid festivities starting at 10pm. ‘Summer Is Dubai' promotion Shoppers spending Dh200 at participating malls will get an opportunity to win up to Dh5 million in prizes including cash and shopping vouchers — with a total of Dh1 million worth of gold and Dh1 million worth of scratch-and-win gift vouchers. Modhesh World The region's largest indoor family entertainment destination will be open until August 28 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. During the Eid celebrations Modhesh World will stay open from 10am to midnight, and thereafter, the timings will be from 10am to 10pm until August 28 Saturday to Wednesday, 10am to midnight on Thursdays and 3pm to midnight on Fridays. Cirque Éloize This internationally renowned show from Cirque Éloize is heading to Dubai for the first time, and will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from August 15 to 24.
