Sudan’s Transport Minister Ahmed Babakr Nahar has ended a visit to Ukraine, aiming at building transport links between the two countries. Nahar headed a delegation including Sudanese airline, marine and rail companies, meeting with Ukranian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Kozak in the capital, Kiev. Both countries have agreed to increase cooperation, Nahar said in a press statement on Saturday, adding that Sudan was set to receive a number of Antonov aeroplanes, train carriages and ships [for fuel and cattle trade] as part of the deal. The agreement comes as Sudanese officials continue to work to improve international relations, particularly with Eastern European countries, as a way round a US-led economic blockade.
